What won each shortlist

The top pick from each roundup, with the buy link on the card. You should not have to open three pages to find something to click.

Start here: three products, three steps

If you want a routine rather than a reading list, this is it. Each one is the current top pick from the roundup it links to.

How we choose

We start by excluding, not by recommending. Every product here was checked against its published ingredient list before it was judged on anything else, and anything carrying a flagged ingredient was out before the comparison began.

That order matters, because knowing what to avoid transfers. It works in a drugstore aisle, on a product this site has never covered, and on whatever launches next year.

  • No added fragrance or parfum anywhere in the ingredient list.
  • No essential oils, including ones declared under a botanical name.
  • No denatured alcohol, witch hazel, menthol, camphor or peppermint.
  • No physical scrub particles.
  • Sold in the US right now, from a brand that publishes its full ingredient list.
  • Every remaining flagged ingredient is named on the product card rather than quietly left out.

What we flag

Nothing here is called toxic or dangerous. Each entry says what the ingredient is, why it appears on a list for reactive skin, and - where the evidence is genuinely mixed - says that too.

How this site is funded

Calm & Cream is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy through a link here we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That is the only way the site makes money - there is no sponsored content and no brand pays for placement.

We do not publish prices, because we have no live price feed and will not print a number we cannot verify. Every buy link says “Check price on Amazon” and means it literally.
